Kabini: Welcome to the jungle, we got fun and games...

Bright and early we left the Ginger hotel for the Kabini River Lodge out in the jungles of India. We had a nice “smooth” two hour bus ride to the resort, but it was so worth it.

The serenity of the country side was just was we needed after every one of our senses had been overloaded by the chaos of the “sleepy” little town of Mysore. There were finally no horns, no smog, no hustle nor bustle just peace, quiet and nature.

We couldn’t check in right away so we went down to the banks of the Kabini River and relaxed in the GIANT hammocks in the trees.

In the evening we had a safari in the jungle and saw peacocks and other wild birds, wild boars, lots of deer and ELEPHANTS!!! Our tour guide took us to this hut which had domesticated elephants. The young boys were riding the elephants bareback and Mary even got to feed one! No tigers. Boo.

Unfortunately, the beds are like sleeping on a cement floor with just an inch of padding. Threw my shoulders out of whack.
